JESENÍKY

The Jeseníky Mountains are truly unique. Nowhere else in Central Europe will you find such a striking combination of rugged and picturesque scenery.

Rugged mountainsides and slopes rising into the clouds shelter picturesque valleys below. Elsewhere, walking trails wind over gentle hills and cross rushing streams and rivers.

Remote villages and historic town centres sit alongside remarkable feats of engineering known around the world.

In summer, the Jeseníky Mountains offer hundreds of well-marked hiking and cycling routes. Famous winter-sports resorts, spas, monuments and cultural events also make the region well worth visiting in winter.

FILIPOVICE

The Jeseníky Mountains remain an undiscovered paradise, and the small mountain village of Filipovice is a place to fall in love with in every season.

The village lies within the Jeseníky Protected Landscape Area, beside the Filipovické louky.

Its location makes the cabin ideal for ski holidays, family stays with children and relaxing breaks for senior guests.

It is an ideal base for winter sports, summer hiking, cycling and mushroom picking.

HIKING AND CYCLING ROUTES

The Jeseníky Mountains are crossed by a large network of marked hiking and cycling routes that lead visitors even to the most secluded corners of what are rightly considered some of the most beautiful mountains in Czechia.

  • Filipovice - Červenohorské sedlo - Keprník - Šerák - Filipovice
  • Filipovice - Červenohorské sedlo - Praděd - Filipovice
  • Filipovice – Jeseník Spa – Šerák (on foot or by chairlift) – Filipovice

JESCyklo - five marked cycling circuits totalling 107 km, created in 2016 around the town of Jeseník and the Priessnitz Spa. Each themed circuit leads to intriguing places such as flooded quarries and abandoned Sudeten villages.

Moravská stezka - a long-distance cycle route crossing the Jeseníky Mountains.

Nature trails guide you through the natural and human history of the region. They reveal the mountains’ most beautiful places, wonderful views and sites full of mystery and dramatic history.

SPAS AND SWIMMING

In summer, the flooded quarries below the Rychlebské Mountains offer excellent natural swimming in clear water (Rampa, Vycpálek, Brankopy, Kaolínka, Vaněk and Transgranit).

We also recommend Florian Pond in a former sand quarry near Písečná, where you can swim, fish, hire boats and buy refreshments. Beside the pond you will find U Jezera restaurant.

A unique feature of the Jeseník spa is the Balneopark Vincenze Priessnitze, a special water garden where you can wade through streams and try Priessnitz benches or contrast water jets.

The recently renovated municipal swimming pool in Jeseník is also worth visiting.

SKIING

Winter-sports enthusiasts will appreciate the easy access to the slopes of Filipovice Ski Area (100m). The modern ski area has one chairlift, two drag lifts and three groomed pistes with snowmaking, as well as a ski school, children’s park, night skiing, ski hire, a restaurant and bar, and cross-country tracks groomed by snowmobile.

Červenohorské sedlo Ski Area (4 km) is one of the best-known downhill-skiing resorts in northern Moravia. It has a chairlift and eight ski lifts. Cross-country routes run from Červenohorské sedlo to both sides of the Hrubý Jeseník range. Many of the routes are machine groomed. One of the most popular follows the southern slope of Velký Klínovec towards Švýcárna and the Praděd area.

PLACES OF INTEREST

  • Dlouhé Stráně Power Station (18km) – a remarkable feat of engineering named among the Seven Wonders of Czechia. We recommend booking a tour of the underground power station. A traffic-controlled paved road leads to the upper reservoir and offers road cyclists an almost Alpine climb.
  • Velké Losiny Handmade Paper Mill (26 km) – the oldest operating paper mill in Czechia and a national cultural monument
  • Rejvíz (20km) – a picturesque mountain village with traditional architecture, a national nature reserve, Mechové jezírko — the largest peat bog in northern Moravia — and a 3 km nature trail.
  • Karlova Studánka (20km) - a mountain spa and jewel of the Jeseníky Mountains. The Bílá Opava nature trail crosses bridges, steps and footbridges past waterfalls, cascades, rapids, rock formations and romantic corners of old spruce forest.
  • Wooden churches of Maršíkov and Žárová (24km) - the oldest surviving folk buildings in northern Moravia
  • Červenohorské sedlo – Šerák Nature Trail - passes through the Šerák–Keprník National Nature Reserve, the oldest reserve in Moravia.
  • Forest Bar (24km) - an original self-service bar in the forest above Horní Lipová.
